Frequently asked questions

Here are the frequently asked questions about cancer diagnosis, cancer treatment and cancer care

Pain and palliative care is a specialized medical approach focused on improving the quality of life for patients facing serious illnesses. It aims to prevent and relieve suffering through early identification, assessment, and treatment of pain and other physical, psychosocial, and spiritual issues. Palliative Care Centers in Bangalore offer comprehensive support and services for patients and their families, ensuring they receive the best possible care and support during difficult times.

Palliative care is crucial because it focuses on improving the quality of life for patients facing serious illnesses. It provides relief from symptoms such as pain, shortness of breath, fatigue, constipation, nausea, loss of appetite, and difficulty sleeping.

The duration of palliative care for cancer patients varies. Some may receive care at palliative care centers in Bangalore for weeks, while others benefit for years. The length depends on factors like cancer stage, treatment effectiveness, and overall health goals.

Palliative care typically begins when a patient is diagnosed with a serious illness. It focuses on providing relief from the symptoms and stress of the illness, rather than trying to cure the disease. Palliative care can start at any stage of an illness and is provided alongside curative treatment. It is not limited to end-of-life care but is integrated into the patient's overall care plan to improve the quality of life for both the patient and their family.

Palliative care, while highly beneficial, carries some risks. These include medication side effects (like constipation, nausea), emotional distress from end-of-life discussions, and potential cost concerns. Palliative Care Centers in Bangalore manage these risks to improve patients' quality of life.
